Mulch Supply Newcastle & Hunter Valley — Recycled Tree Mulch
At Waratah Professional Tree Care we supply mulch recycled directly from trees removed across Newcastle and the Hunter Valley. When we remove a tree, the timber and branches are chipped down into quality mulch so nothing goes to waste.
How Much Mulch Do You Need?
You don’t need to be exact, a rough calculation is enough to give us a good starting point when you call.
Step 1: Measure your garden beds Measure the length and width of the area you want to cover in metres.
Step 2: Decide on your depth For most garden beds, 50mm to 75mm depth is ideal. Use 75mm if your soil dries out quickly or you have a serious weed problem.
Step 3: Multiply it out Length × Width × Depth = Cubic metres (m³)
For example: a garden bed 10m long × 2m wide × 0.075m deep = 1.5m³
Step 4: Add a 10% buffer Mulch settles after delivery, so add roughly 10% to your total to make sure you have enough.
Not sure? Just call us. Give us a rough description of your space and we can help you work out what you need.
It’s easier than it sounds.

Loose Tip Delivery — What to Expect
We deliver mulch by loose tip, the load is tipped directly from the truck onto your driveway or a nominated spot on your property.
Before we arrive, make sure you have:
- A clear, accessible space for the truck to tip (away from overhead power lines, fences, and vehicles)
- A wheelbarrow and shovel ready to move the mulch to your garden beds
- Someone home to direct the driver if needed
Loose tip delivery is the most practical and cost-effective option for garden mulching.

Why Mulch?
A good layer of mulch is one of the simplest and most effective things you can do for your garden:
- Retains moisture: mulch slows evaporation from the soil surface, reducing how often you need to water, particularly through Hunter Region summers.
- Improves soil health: as organic mulch breaks down it feeds the soil, improving structure and encouraging healthy root growth.
- Suppresses weeds: a proper depth of mulch blocks light to weed seeds and dramatically reduces the time you spend pulling them out.
- Looks great: a freshly mulched garden bed looks clean, tidy, and well-maintained.
