Scrub Clearing For Newcastle & Surrounding Areas
Land clearing is the complete removal of trees, stumps, scrub and undergrowth from a block so it’s ready to build on, subdivide, or use. We handle the whole job as one job, drop the trees, grind the stumps, mulch the scrub and haul it away, so you’re left with a clean, workable site. As qualified arborists working across Newcastle and the Hunter since 1998, we also know which trees you’re allowed to remove and which ones council protects, before anything gets cut.
What land clearing actually involves
A lot of “clearing” quotes only cover knocking trees down. That leaves you with a paddock full of stumps, a pile of green waste, and a second problem to solve. We treat clearing as getting the block genuinely ready:
Who we clear blocks for
What’s included — the full-clearance approach
You get one team and one quote covering tree removal, stump grinding, scrub clearing, and green-waste removal or mulch left on site. No juggling three different contractors for one block.
Environmentally Responsible Work
We care about trees and the land they grow in. Wherever possible, we offer on-site mulching, green waste recycling, and can assist with replanting options to keep your landscape thriving.

Before we clear — what needs approval
This is where a qualified arborist matters. In NSW you can’t just clear everything, some trees are protected under the local council DCP (Newcastle, Lake Macquarie and Maitland all have tree controls), and native vegetation on rural land is regulated separately.
There are also pathways that work in your favour, like the RFS 10/50 Vegetation Clearing scheme if your block is in a designated bushfire area.
We assess your block first and tell you plainly what can come out, what needs council approval, and what’s exempt — so you don’t cop a fine for clearing the wrong tree. If a tree needs a removal application, we’ll point you to what’s required rather than guessing.
What land clearing costs
Every block’s different, so clearing is quoted on what’s actually there rather than a flat rate. The things that move the price:
- Size of the block and how dense the vegetation is
- Size and number of trees
- How many stumps need grinding
- Access — can machinery get in, or is it hand-clearing
- Slope and ground conditions
- How much green waste has to be hauled off site
Why use a qualified arborist for land clearing
Anyone with a chainsaw can knock trees over. The difference with an arborist-led crew is we read the block properly, which trees are protected, which ones are unstable and need dropping a particular way, what’s worth keeping for the finished site, and how to clear without churning the whole block to mud. We’re Citation Certified to ISO 9001, 14001 and 45001 standards, and we’ve been clearing blocks across the Hunter since 1998.
Where we clear Vegetation
Newcastle, Lake Macquarie, Maitland, Cessnock, Port Stephens and the wider Hunter region.
