Land Clearing In Newcastle

Vegetation And Tree Removal Across Newcastle & Surrounding Areas.

Scrub Clearing For Newcastle & Surrounding Areas

Land clearing is the complete removal of trees, stumps, scrub and undergrowth from a block so it’s ready to build on, subdivide, or use. We handle the whole job as one job, drop the trees, grind the stumps, mulch the scrub and haul it away, so you’re left with a clean, workable site. As qualified arborists working across Newcastle and the Hunter since 1998, we also know which trees you’re allowed to remove and which ones council protects, before anything gets cut.

What land clearing actually involves

A lot of “clearing” quotes only cover knocking trees down. That leaves you with a paddock full of stumps, a pile of green waste, and a second problem to solve. We treat clearing as getting the block genuinely ready:

  • Removing trees of any size, safely and in the right order
  • Grinding stumps out so the ground’s workable (not just cut to the ground)
  • Clearing scrub, undergrowth and weeds like lantana
  • Mulching and removing the green waste, or leaving usable mulch on site if you want it
  • Leaving the site clean and level enough to start work

Who we clear blocks for

  • Builders and developers: Site clearing before a build or subdivision, on time and to the boundaries that matter, with the protected trees identified before the machines arrive.
  • Overgrown and neglected landscaping: We help commercial areas remove old landscaping that is negatively impacting aesthetic or building access and give them a cleaned and leveled area
  • Acreage and rural-residential: Larger blocks out through Maitland, Cessnock and the Watagans fringe where scrub and bushfire fuel build up. We can clear access, reduce fuel loads, and open the block up.
  • Easements and access:Stormwater easements, driveways and access tracks that have grown over.

What’s included — the full-clearance approach

You get one team and one quote covering tree removal, stump grinding, scrub clearing, and green-waste removal or mulch left on site. No juggling three different contractors for one block.

Environmentally Responsible Work

We care about trees and the land they grow in. Wherever possible, we offer on-site mulching, green waste recycling, and can assist with replanting options to keep your landscape thriving.

Our Newcastle Land Clearing Process

We follow a structured, safety-focused process to ensure every tree removal is completed efficiently and responsibly.

Our Service Areas

1

Site Assessment

We evaluate the site to be cleared and identify any risk areas — including site access, nearby buildings, fences and fall zones.

2

Risk Management

Hazards are identified and controlled before work begins, using qualified climbers and certified gear.

3

Safe Removal

Trees and vegetation are removed in stages using well maiantaed equipment that is right for the job. Nothing is left to chance.

4

Clean-Up

All debris are mulched, removed and left level, leaving the site clear, safe, and ready to be used.

Before we clear — what needs approval

This is where a qualified arborist matters. In NSW you can’t just clear everything, some trees are protected under the local council DCP (Newcastle, Lake Macquarie and Maitland all have tree controls), and native vegetation on rural land is regulated separately.
There are also pathways that work in your favour, like the RFS 10/50 Vegetation Clearing scheme if your block is in a designated bushfire area.

We assess your block first and tell you plainly what can come out, what needs council approval, and what’s exempt — so you don’t cop a fine for clearing the wrong tree. If a tree needs a removal application, we’ll point you to what’s required rather than guessing.

What land clearing costs

Every block’s different, so clearing is quoted on what’s actually there rather than a flat rate. The things that move the price:

  • Size of the block and how dense the vegetation is
  • Size and number of trees
  • How many stumps need grinding
  • Access — can machinery get in, or is it hand-clearing
  • Slope and ground conditions
  • How much green waste has to be hauled off site

Why use a qualified arborist for land clearing

Anyone with a chainsaw can knock trees over. The difference with an arborist-led crew is we read the block properly, which trees are protected, which ones are unstable and need dropping a particular way, what’s worth keeping for the finished site, and how to clear without churning the whole block to mud. We’re Citation Certified to ISO 9001, 14001 and 45001 standards, and we’ve been clearing blocks across the Hunter since 1998.

Where we clear Vegetation

Land Clearing FAQS

Find answers to common questions about our tree care services, safety procedures, and what to expect when working with our qualified arborists.

Often, yes — at least for some of the trees. Most Hunter councils protect trees above a certain size or species under their DCP, and native vegetation on rural land has its own rules. Some blocks also qualify for the RFS 10/50 bushfire clearing scheme. We assess your block and tell you exactly what’s exempt, what needs an application, and what can’t come out, before any work starts.

Both. Stump grinding is part of a proper clear — we grind them out so the ground’s actually workable, not left dotted with stumps you have to deal with later.

Yes. Reducing fuel load on rural-residential and bush-fringe blocks is common work for us, and the 10/50 scheme may let you clear within set distances of your home without approval. We’ll confirm what applies to your address

Your choice — we either haul the green waste off site completely, or mulch it and leave the mulch for you to use on the block. Either way the site’s left clean.

Anywhere from a day to several, depending on block size, vegetation density and access. We’ll give you a realistic timeframe with the quote.
